Power Suite Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the most current version of Power Suite?
Power Suite 4.1 was released in October 2005. If you have an older version, please contact your Cummins Power Generation distributor for a new CD-ROM.
What are the system requirements to run Power Suite?
You will need:
o Windows NT®, Windows 2000, or Windows XP
o 70MB of available hard drive
o Adobe® Reader® 5.0 or later
o Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.1 or later (6.0 is recommended)
How do I install Power Suite?
(A complete description and installation instructions are located in the ’Installation.doc’ file on the Power Suite Installation CD.)
o Insert Power Suite Installation CD and click Start
o Click Run
o Enter x:\PowerSuite\Setup.exe
(type your own CD-ROM drive letter in place of x)
o Download and run (open) the License file for Power Suite
Why does Power Suite keep reminding me to register? I already have!
To avoid being reminded to register again, you will need to download and run (open) the License File for Power Suite. This will place a small file on your system indicating that you are a registered user of Power Suite. If you did not download the file — or if you saved the file on your system but did not run it — Power Suite will continue to remind you about registering.
While installing, I'm told that I need Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5.0 or later is required to run Power Suite. If you don’t already have it on your system, you can download it free from Adobe.com, or install Adobe Reader 7.0 by double-clicking this file on the Power Suite Installation CD.
I have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 installed, but the installation tells me I don't have a valid Adobe Acrobat reader of 5.0 or greater.
If this occurs, install the Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 that is on the Power Suite Installation CD. A file is missing from your current install that is the identifier that the required reader release is installed. You can keep 6.0 as your primary reader (install option).
While installing, I'm told that I need the XML parser.
Say Yes to this prompt and Power Suite will install the necessary item on your system.
The installation completed successfully, but when I try to run Power Suite I get the message "ActiveX component cannot create object."
If this occurs, it may mean that your system has an outdated version of Windows Installer. To remedy this, go to the Support directory found on the Power Suite Installation CD. Then click the appropriate file indicated below. For Windows NT or Windows 2000: Double click on the file called ’WindowsInstallerForNT4And2000.exe’.
Problems reading CAD files for lack of the required fonts.
Under the Support directory on the Power Suite Installation CD there are 4 files that will help resolve the issue. Contact your IT support group for instructions to installing these fonts into your CAD viewer. The files are: ’i3_shp.zip’, ’i3_shx.zip’, ’symtb000.zip’, and ’symtb128.zip’.
